Free Friday: Old Swedes Church, Philadelphia

Philadelphia was in the eyes of the world this week as the site of the Democratic National Convention. It is a city known for its rich history. There are many historical places in Philly that visitors may visit for free. One of them is Old Swedes Church in 916 S Swanson St. Officially, it is named Gloria Dei, but known locally as Old Swedes.

The church opened in the 1700’s. It continues to function as a church and the cemetery in Old Swedes hosts revolutionary war heroes.

Those who love history may want to stop by and check out Old Swedes Church.

About Dee Gilbert

I am one half of a couple who loves to travel; the half who likes to write and share travel experiences. Reading about travelers' experiences inspire me more to see the world. So, I thought, perhaps in my own little way I could inspire others, too. :)
