Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Hotel Adriatico is a nice hotel in Florence. It is described as a first class accommodation on our chosen travel tour operator’s website.
If my husband and I did not have the issues we had, I would have rated the hotel either a 4 or a 5. But a hotel stay is more than just a nice room and a clean bed.
Adriatico is not close to attractions nor public transportation hubs. It is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and there’s a convenience store nearby. It’s over a half hour walk to Signoria Square where the Palazzo Vecchio is, and right next to it the Uffizi Gallery.
The rooms are actually nice at the Adriatico. My issue is not with the looks of the room and the comfort of the bed. It’s with being woken up at midnight by staff.
Sleep Quality: ⭐️⭐️/5
As I was just drifting off to sleep, we got a phone call from the front desk that there was something wrong with the computer system and it was necessary to get in our room to press a button as remotely doing it wouldn’t work. As soon as my husband put the phone on its cradle, there was a knock on our door, and an employee got in to fix the issue. I figured the issue had been present for some time in our room, but instead of fixing the problem, the hotel had been putting a band aid over it. In the past, it may have worked. But not this time. The personnel left without fixing the issue. I haven’t recovered from jet lag yet, so I was not able to get back to sleep.
Our room was generally clean. However, the sink and shower drains were really slow. Very slow. It wasn’t fun showering with water pooling up to the ankles. Nor was it fun brushing one’s teeth with a pool of sudsy water in the sink. We reported the issue, but whatever was done did not resolve it. This and the midnight intrusion put a damper on our stay at this hotel.
Other than the issues I mentioned above, the rest like at the restaurant and breakfast room was very good. But service is not limited to the dining area so, I give a 3 for service.
Those who did not have the same issues as we did really enjoyed their stay at Adriatico. The hotel does offer good value. It’s a pretty nice hotel. But slow drains and midnight sleep interruptions from staff do put a dent on an otherwise good stay.
