Free Friday: Piazza della Signoria, Florence IT

Piazza della Signoria is a square in Florence, Italy. It was the political center of the Republic of Florence. It is surrounded by historical buildings, but the two that stand out for me are the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery.

Palazzo Vecchio

There are statues of interest in the square, one of them a copy of Michelangelo’s David (the original is at the Accademia) which is said to be one of his best works.

Next to Palazzo Vecchio is the Uffizi Gallery which I think is a must see for those interested in art. But there’s a fee to enter the two establishments. Those who would rather not spend any euros may can simply hang out, check out the statues in the square.

Signoria Square is a must see in Florence. One doesn’t have to part with euros to enjoy it.
