Last week, hubby and I met up with a mother and daughter we met on our trip to Turkey back in 2014. They were on the same flight as we were from New York to Istanbul. Our flight got redirected to Heathrow in London due to a medical emergency. Their seats were on the row behind ours. They had the same concern of missing our connecting flight to Cappadocia from Istanbul. We started talking, and became travel buddies! They also happen to be Filipino-Americans. Therefore, hubby thought they would enjoy eating at a Filipino restaurant. Which they did. We all raved over the halo-halo at Pilipino Grill in Sayreville, New Jersey.Halo-halo, translated as mix-mix, is a very popular Summer treat in the Philippines where summers are hot and humid. To cool down, residents indulge in halo-halo. The dessert is composed of shaved ice and candied fruits topped with milk, then garnished with flan and ice cream. Oh, so delicious! Celebrity chefs Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain are fans as well.

Thank you! Work is as always, busy. It’ll be busier in the next months while a number of staff go on vacation each week. A few people left seeking for greener pastures. I hope all is well with you and your family. A belated Happy Mother’s Day greeting!
