Dee Travels’ 15 Minutes of Fame Mystery

Something strange happened on this blog site last July 6. I was busy at work when I got a notice from the WordPress app that my stats are booming! Whaaat??? 😲 I have not posted that day (too tired to write), yet I was getting 130 hourly views! What in the world could be going on??? Although I was puzzled and found this very out of the ordinary, the event slipped my mind as work fully caught my attention. The occurrence came back to me today, and I decided to investigate. The blog post that garnered 1,045 views in two days was about a yellow cup, Dickey’s BBQ Pit Cup. The post received 11 views back when I posted it in June 2016. What changed? One hundred thirty views every hour for a yellow cup is strange, indeed. A check of my stats for that day shows that the referrer site is ehowa. The site is described as the baddest fuckin humor site on the net. There is nothing funny about my Dickey’s souvenir cup post at all! It touts the restaurant’s yellow souvenir cup as an effort to help save the environment. So how did my post end up featured at ehowa? I visited the site and browsed through the July 6th and 7th posts. On July 6th, the site posted about an unorthodox restaurant that trains its staff to be obnoxious to customers. And the staff go about topless??? I’m not sure about this. A topless woman’s picture popped up when I clicked a link that has the word staff in it. 😮 The restaurant’s name is Dick’s Last Resort, and the author mistakenly thought my post was about Dick’s, instead of Dickey’s! I gathered ehowa is a popular site. Its readers had been clicking the link to my post all day on July 6th. 😄 The mistake was addressed the next day at the website, and visits from the site to my blog has dwindled.

So there, this site’s 15 minutes of fame mystery is solved!

Oh my gosh. Laughing my tail off. Your cup story isn’t quite a topless restaurant type post. Ha ha. Well, maybe you picked up some blog views from folks that like travel as well.
