Rockefeller Mansion, side door
I have toured mansions before, like that of the Vanderbilts in New York, the Edison Mansion in New Jersey, the Roosevelt Mansion in New York, and the Twain Mansion in Connecticut. Not one of them overwhelmed me with its opulence like the Rockefeller Mansion did.

Our tour guide said the Rockefellers wanted their mansion to be simple. In my opinion, there is nothing simple about the four-storey
structure. Every corner screamed money. Visitors are not allowed to take photos inside, but could take photos of the outside and the grounds.

Standing at the highest point in Sleepy Hollow, New York, it boasts of spectacular views.

The multi-level garden shows off the mansion.

There are sculptures everywhere.

Clearly, the Rockefellers’ definition of simple greatly differs from mine.
The mansion is very impressive. There is so much to see, and appreciate. The two-hour tour is worth the $25 fee (weekdays) or $28 fee (weekends).
