Rest in Peace, Anthony Bourdain

“Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food.” – Anthony Bourdain

I woke up to the news that one of my travel inspirations took his life. As I am writing this, I find myself tearing up. He didn’t even know me! But I watch his shows from A Cook’s Tour, The Layover, No Reservations to Parts Unknown. I love his writing style. His bluntness made me squirm. The various points of view he presented in his shows made me think. In the Manila episode of Parts Unknown, he sat on a bench in the slums while enjoying a Filipino summer favorite, halo-halo. That episode endeared him more to Filipino hearts, including me.

The news of his death saddens me. I will miss him.

Rest in peace, Anthony Bourdain.

About Dee Gilbert

I am one half of a couple who loves to travel; the half who likes to write and share travel experiences. Reading about travelers' experiences inspire me more to see the world. So, I thought, perhaps in my own little way I could inspire others, too. :)

I have to admit that I have never heard of him so may have to go back and see if I can watch some of his shows.
